Linkin Park – The Emptiness Machine (Drum Sheet Music)

“The Emptiness Machine” marks the incredible return of Linkin Park to the music scene, seven years after the passing of the late Chester Bennington. The new single teases the upcoming album, From Zero, out on November 15. “The Emptiness Machine” is the first single to feature the new singer Emily Armstrong and the drummer/producer Colin Brittain, who replaced the past member Rob Bourdon. Released on September 5, the single showcases the style and sound of Linkin Park music: light verses to explosive choruses, distinctive power chords, meaningful lyrics, and the use of sound processors on drums.

The drum part is simple and effective, serving the arrangement with a precise and fast rock drumming style. It consists essentially of one drum beat comprising a quarter-note hi-hat pattern, snare on 2 and 4, and a defined syncopated bass drum pattern. A low-pass filter is applied on the drums in the intro, verse, first chorus, and interlude, cutting the high frequencies and producing a muffled sound. Drum fills are always functional to the song, introducing a new section and building dynamics. In particular, at 2:43 in the final chorus, Colin Brittain plays a captivating drum fill based on 16th-note snare rolls.

I grew up with Linkin Park music and learned drums play along with their legendary tunes. That’s a great song, especially for beginner drummers to practice fast tempos.
