The song is the first single extracted from the album Silk Degrees (1976), another classic groove by the great Jeff Porcaro.
The drum groove presents an 8th note hi-hat pattern with strong accents on the downbeat that you can hear on the right channel, there is also an overdubbed hi-hat part in 16th notes on the left channel. As you can see in the image below the transcription have a double notation: the overdubbed hi-hat and the main groove.
Ghost notes are one of the most remarkable Jeff Porcaro’s elements, both in the groove and in the fills. After the first backbeat he plays a tasty soft ghost note, a simple and deserving bass drum line complete this classic groove.
