Adriano de Oliveira is a Brazilian drummer who played with Leny Andrade, João Carlos Coutinho, Lucio Nascimento, Paulo Morello, Toots Thielemans, and many other musicians. Not well known as a drummer he is a master of Brazilian drumming, and his style is really unique.
Here’s the drum transcription of his work with Leny Andrade on the Brazilian tune “Chora Tua Tristeza” from the album Bossa Nova (1991). The tune is a samba with a half-time feel on the bridge. Adriano plays the hi-hat softly with the tip of the stick and except where indicated is played without accents.
