Adriano de Oliveira is a Brazilian drummer who played with Leny Andrade, João Carlos Coutinho, Lucio Nascimento, Paulo Morello, Toots Thielemans, and many other musicians. Not well known as a drummer, he is a master of Brazilian drumming; his style is unique and definitely worth studying!
Here’s the complete drum transcription of his work on the Brazilian tune “Chora Tua Tristeza” by Leny Andrade, from the album Bossa Nova (1991). The song is written and performed in the samba style, with a half-time feel on the bridge. Adriano plays the hi-hat in continuous 16th-note without accents with the tip of the stick, except where indicated in the transcription.
